Authoring this in After Effects
- It's the AE you already use. Add the
Bodymovin or
LottieFiles
plugin and export your comp to
.json.
- Use shape layers (not imported PNGs) so it scales crisp. Masks, trim paths, transforms,
parenting and basic gradients all export cleanly.
- These silently break on export: most AE effects (glow/blur/distort), expressions,
some blend modes, 3D layers and particle systems. Design within the
supported-features matrix.
- Preview before handoff by dropping your export into the box on the left.
Handoff spec — starting defaults, adjust to taste
- Square comp · 600×600
- 60 fps · ~2.5s of action · one-shot (no loop)
- Transparent background
- Deliver
.json (not .lottie — this preview won't unpack the zip)
- Color: keep plate/mark on solid fills so they can be recolored at runtime for dark/light — or deliver both variants
