Preview your own export

Drag an After Effects → Lottie .json here, or choose a file. It renders in the real lottie-web player — the same one the apps use — so you can check fidelity before handing off.

Authoring this in After Effects

  1. It's the AE you already use. Add the Bodymovin or LottieFiles plugin and export your comp to .json.
  2. Use shape layers (not imported PNGs) so it scales crisp. Masks, trim paths, transforms, parenting and basic gradients all export cleanly.
  3. These silently break on export: most AE effects (glow/blur/distort), expressions, some blend modes, 3D layers and particle systems. Design within the supported-features matrix.
  4. Preview before handoff by dropping your export into the box on the left.
Handoff spec — starting defaults, adjust to taste
  • Square comp · 600×600
  • 60 fps · ~2.5s of action · one-shot (no loop)
  • Transparent background
  • Deliver .json (not .lottie — this preview won't unpack the zip)
  • Color: keep plate/mark on solid fills so they can be recolored at runtime for dark/light — or deliver both variants
